About Course

The NEBOSH International Diploma serves as the pinnacle qualification for individuals aiming to become health and safety professionals. It builds upon the foundational knowledge gained from the NEBOSH International General Certificate. Tailored for those aspiring to pursue careers in health and safety, this diploma equips learners with comprehensive knowledge and understanding essential for the profession. Moreover, it establishes a strong platform for further academic advancement into postgraduate studies.

To achieve the International Diploma, learners must complete:-

Unit DI1: Know – workplace health and safety principles (International)

Unit DI2: Do – controlling workplace health issues (International)

Unit DI3: Do – controlling workplace safety issues (International)

The NEBOSH International Diploma study hours needs to be based around a minimum of 185 taught hours and approximately 144 hours of self-study for an overall total of 329 Hours

Course Structure:

  • NEBOSH International Diploma consists of three units: DI1, DI2, and DI3.
  • Each unit covers specific topics related to workplace health and safety principles, controlling health issues, and controlling safety issues.
  • Unit DI1 consists of 25 topics focused on workplace health and safety principles.
  • Unit DI2 covers 15 topics related to controlling workplace health issues.
  • Unit DI3 addresses 12 topics concerning controlling workplace safety issues.

Assessment Methods:

  • Unit DI1 assessment consists of two papers:
    • Paper 1: Simulation questions
    • Paper 2: Workplace activities, reflective tasks, and a research project
  • Unit DI2 and DI3 assessments are scenario-based case studies, each with approximately 20 hours of assessment time.

Grading Criteria:

  • The pass mark for each paper is 50%.
  • To achieve the NEBOSH International Diploma, students must pass all three assessments.
  • The grading boundaries are as follows:
    • 0 – 149 marks: Refer
    • 150 – 195 marks: Pass
    • 196 – 225 marks: Credit
    • 226 marks and above: Distinction

Additional Information:

  • For Unit DI1 assessment, learners need access to a suitable workplace to carry out workplace-based activities.
  • The workplace doesn’t have to be the learner’s own but should be suitable for conducting various activities.
  • The required activities include consultation, fostering a health and safety culture, competence and training, risk management, monitoring, and professional skills development.
  • The topics covered in the course include societal factors, organizational change, and general management of contractors, among others.
