ProQual – Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
About Course
The Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety qualification is aimed at candidates working as a health and safety practitioner, in a position of responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of a team or organisation. The qualification is generic and appropriate for individuals working in a range of sectors.
The awarding body for this qualification is ProQual Awarding Body and the regulatory body is the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). The specification for this qualifications has been approved by the Council for the Curriculum Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) for use by centres in Northern Ireland.
This qualification has been accredited onto the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). This course is equivalent to NEBOSH IGC level 3.

There are 5 mandatory units and 2 optional units which you must complete, which cover a broad range of topics ranging from, promoting positive safety culture, to developing procedures to safely control work place and its operations
- Mandatory Units – complete all units
- T/602/1912 - Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety
- L/601/6408 - Develop procedures to safely control work operations
- F/601/9354 - Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
- F/601/6633 - Promote a culture of health and safety in the workplace
- H/601/6687 - Conduct a health and safety risk assessment of the workplace
- Optional Units – a minimum of any TWO units
- F/601/6664 - Investigate and evaluate health and safety incidents and complaints in the workplace
- J/601/6701 - Make sure actions in the workplace aim to protect the environment
- M/601/6837 - Review health and safety procedures in the workplace
- Y/601/6847 - Supervise the health, safety and welfare of a learner in the 3 workplace
Each candidate is required to produce and submit portfolio of evidence, demonstrating that you have achieved all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit.
- Once you gather evidence for each of the unit, your assessor will make sure that you meet all the requirements.
- Once the assessor is satisfied, your work will be signed off and approved.
- We will not submit any work that we believe might not lead to a pass.
- You will receive a feedback for improvement from our assessor if the unit is not satisfactory.
All assessments and evidence are submitted will be a combination of:
- Work-based assessment - set tasks to be completed and supported by work-based evidence
- Reflective tasks - Reflections to show how you have developed from experiences at work and how your competence has improved
- Knowledge competence check - a series of questions to validate your knowledge
There are NO EXAMS for this course, you are assessed solely on your submitted work-based evidence and documents. Remember you don't fail this course as there are no exams.
Each learner will be provided with a dedicated tutor/assessor who will be guiding and assessing your evidences submitted.
Finally once your work has been checked and passed by your assessor, you’ll receive a certificate as proof you have passed the NVQ
